Introduction Currently, atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most frequent arrhythmias and it holds the second place after extrasystole. Thus, AF and atrial flutter constitute nearly 40% of all arrhythmias (1). The incidence of AF increases with age, and in 60-year-old patients this constitutes 2 to 4%. Generally, AF worsens the clinical condition of patients: compensation mechanisms fail, tolerance to physical strain decrease, and cardiac failure worsens.
